  • Athlete allegedly assaults ex-girlfriend: A University basketball player was arrested Saturday after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and assaulting her in his apartment, the State College Police Department said.

    Ronald K. Palmer of 747 E. Beaver Ave. was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, simple assault, false imprisonment, recklessly endangering another human being and harassment/stalking, police said.

    Palmer allegedly talked his ex-girlfriend into accompanying him back to the apartment where they lived until a recent disagreement, police said.

    Police said Palmer refused to release her when she asked. He then allegedly beat, choked and dragged her back to his apartment where he allegedly beat her again and whipped her with a leather belt, police said.

    He also allegedly threatened to burn her with a cigarette, police said.

    The woman suffered facial contusions from the beatings and a welt from the floggings, police said.

  • Assault: An employee at the Gingerbread Man, 130 Hiester St., reported another employee was assaulted by an individual wielding a plastic pitcher early yesterday morning, the State College Police Department said.

    The employee lost some teeth in the assault, police said.

    Police said they have a suspect and are continuing the investigation.

  • Theft: University employee Geraldine Reeve reported yesterday that her tennis bracelet was stolen between 9:30 and 11 a.m. from Rec Hall, University Police Services said.

    The bracelet is worth $1,500.

  • Theft: An employee of Kinko's The Copy Center, 101 N. Atherton St., reported Saturday that a blue and white Penn State football banner was stolen from the front of the store Friday, State College police said.

    The banner is worth about $130.

University police are located in the Eisenhower Parking Garage on campus.
