The American Red Cross is hoping that blood drives this week will help rebuild its blood supplies and slow down the decrease in blood donations.

Another national restaurant chain is hoping to branch out to the State College Borough later this year.

The 28th Annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts will once again try to prove the age-old adage that food is art.

SPORTS

Hard work has always been the key to success. In basketball, this means practicing and playing during every spare moment of the offseason. Two members of the Lady Lion basketball team, Angie Potthoff and Kim Calhoun, lived by this philosophy this summer.

There is only one event in State College that has the prestige and power to draw crowds that could dwarf even those of Homecoming weekend.

ARTS

Turning super heroes into box office dollars has become a popular means of generating revenue for Hollywood recently. With the success of Batman and Batman Returns, the market seemed ready for a new good guy to take the screen by storm.

Setting up shop for the 28th Annual Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts does not fall solely on the artists' shoulders. At all the festival routes around campus and downtown, volunteers and workers are out in droves putting the finishing touches on the various booths, stands and stages.
