Becky Gilbert came to college to learn what it takes to be a good businesswoman. But all she has learned so far in her college experience is that it is unlikely she will go into business.

Quickly glancing at President Clinton's Health Security Act, it would seem as though all the bases are covered. From chapter to chapter of the 1,342-page plan, topics such as universal coverage, Medicare/Medicaid and school-related health services are discussed at length. But the Clinton administration failed to address about 5.5 percent of the population -- college students.

After a long day of classes, many students turn their minds off and vegetate in front of the television -- putting aside national concerns -- at least until that favorite The Brady Bunch re-run is over.

A vacant building that was once a five-and-dime store, and most recently a bookstore, is now a warehouse full of first-quality J. Crew clothing.

Pass two friends on the street who haven't seen each other for a semester and it's not unusual to hear the question, "What's your new number?" Now, instead of a seven-digit phone number, the response might be a six-digit combination of letters and numbers -- an electronic mail address.

SPORTS

A microscopic possibility lurks around the corner for the men's volleyball team -- the chance that the Lions will be eliminated from the playoffs. If the Lions were to lose this weekend, their promising season would most likely end, along with the collegiate careers of the four Lions on the squad.

When the Penn State football team's 1993 season came to a close, Kyle Brady found himself with a lot of thinking to do.

Women's Tennis

The Lady Lions (7-5, 3-5 Big Ten) hit the road with matches against two nationally-ranked Big Ten teams to end the regular season, taking on No. 10 Northwestern (13-1, 7-1) tomorrow and No. 24 Wisconsin (10-8, 6-2) on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

After a two-year hiatus, Penn State returned to the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Wednesday, while still retaining its membership in the Big Ten Conference.

It's only the No. 3 team in the country that the women's lacrosse team takes on tomorrow. No problem, right? Coach Julie Williams knows exactly what her No. 9 Lady Lions will have to do to pull out a victory.

The men's gymnastics team may be going into this weekend's NCAA Championships as an underdog, but as Coach Randy Jepson has learned, the competition is unpredictable. There are no guarantees. When Olympian and national team member Tim Daggett broke his ankle in the middle of a meet, it took UCLA out of contention for the team title.

This weekend the Penn State football team will be put on display. The Beaver Stadium gates open and the spectators will file in -- spectators anxious to see a powerful offense and spectators curious about a suspect defense.

ARTS

For many undergraduate amateur artists, finding opportunities to display work can be difficult. Most campus galleries are reserved many months in advance by professional artists and graduate students.

Rarely has a film embodied the flow of everyday life like Robert Altman's masterful Short Cuts, a vibrantly funny and spellbinding piece that stands out as the acclaimed director's finest work.

This past week, The Dirges exhausted its supply of Fiber.

Exactly a year after the band's first album, Fiber, was released, The Dirges ran out of copies it used to stock the quickly diminishing supply in local record stores.
