Although the Graduate Student Association is fighting budget cuts, apathy and low membership, new officers began their term yesterday ready to combat these and other issues.

One man was killed and two people were sent to Centre Community Hospital Monday night as a result of a car accident on state Route 64 in Walker Township, police said.

Jokes, laughter, and bizarre legislation all helped bring the 1993-1994 Undergraduate Student Government Senate Senators' terms to a close.

The two tattoo parlors in State College will have to abide by tougher regulations, thanks to the borough's new tattoo ordinance.

An investigation into possible violations in the Undergraduate Student Government Elections Code during the March 30 election has ended and a report will be given next week.

SPORTS

As the fans at Jeffrey field watched the men's lacrosse game Saturday, they sat through 26 faceoffs. Although the Scarlet Knights had a varied repertoire of players to attend to the task, the Lions put their faith in one man -- No. 17 David O'Donnell.

Years ago, an anxious 10-year-old lined up with what seemed like a million other young girls hoping to make the local softball team. However, not one in that million knew how to pitch. Well, maybe all but one . . .

If Softball Coach Sue Rankin were to decide her starting pitchers for today's doubleheader using the old Magic Eight Ball, it would probably reply, "Ask again later."

The next three weeks just became a little more challenging for the women's lacrosse team. With a 5-4 record, the Lady Lions are already fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. If that weren't hard enough, Monday the Lady Lions learned they could be fighting without co-captain Jill Pearsall.

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- It is not a passing game. There are no points for assists. Each routine depends solely on one competitor. Mistakes are often obvious. They can not be buried under someone else's recovery.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, the Lions were down 3-2. Center fielder Troy Strauser had just stolen third base, and Penn State's leading homerun hitter, Derek Bochna, stepped up to the plate.
