With this letter, I put my campaign for Undergraduate Student Government to rest. Before I move on and turn my attention to other pursuits, let me share a few words of congratulation, appreciation and defense.
Congratulations to the new president. I have seen Mike King at his worst: Too often, politics are fueled by manipulation and deception. I hope Mike will remember the difference between a boy and a man -- a man accepts responsibility for his actions.
I have also seen Mike at his best: Eager to converse and learn, hard days of work followed by long nights of play. I am confident Mike will give his new office the time and energy it deserves. Let me also congratulate Josh Bokee, one of the few who has stuck with the USG Senate. His aim is true: He is a public servant.
I owe thanks to the many people who helped my campaign, most immediately, April Campbell, a strong voice of reason and my greatest source of inspiration. Tom Dymek, Bill Donato, Bob Torres, Katie Sesny, Tonya Paoli and Nicole Ferrise, Tom Roberts and Brian Rea, I will always be in your debt. From the trumpet to the sister of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, 108 S. Haller, I could not begin to list everyone, but know you are all in my heart. Let me also thank Carina Defferrire and Pat Scanlan for being such amicable competition.
Finally, a brief defense of the Nittany Lion. I ask that his superiors understand this reasoning: Voting is essential to the success of our society, so everyone should help to get out the vote.
May it ever rest. With that, I'm ready for Loser Fest.
