Police Log

  • Woman raped, robbed by man holding gun: A woman reported that she was robbed and raped at gunpoint at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday on the west side of an apartment complex at 219 Waupelani Drive, the State College Police Department said.

    A man allegedly approached the victim from behind, pulled a gun and forced her to the back of the parking lot, where he allegedly told her to hand him the money from her purse, police said. The man then allegedly ripped her clothes off, forced her to the ground and raped her, police said.

    The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s to mid-30s. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. He was wearing a blue denim jacket, blue jeans and an orange or red knit hat, police said.

  • Criminal Mischief: Anthony Demangone of 218 Jordan reported a BB was fired through his dorm room window Thursday night, University police said.

    Police said no one was injured and they do not have a suspect.

    The amount of damage is unknown.

  • Theft: Christine Connelly of 818 Bellaire Ave. reported a videocassette recorder and a book bag with three textbooks, two notebooks, various forms of identification, an apartment key, a checkbook and a work uniform from the Nittany Lion Inn were stolen from her unlocked apartment early Sunday morning, State College police said.

    The value of the items is unknown.

  • Theft: Mike's Video, 228 W. College Ave., reported four videotapes and a video game were rented with a video card that had been reported stolen, State College police said. The card belonged to Christine Connelly.

    The defendant was stopped in Patton Township and stood before District Justice Daniel Hoffman on charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

    The defendant is being held at Centre County Prison in lieu of $300 bail.

  • Theft: Brother's Pizza, 129 S. Fraser St., reported a delivery car and two pizzas were stolen from in front of Calder Commons apartments. The people stole the pizzas inside the vehicle and left it one block away, State College police said.

    Police said an apartment security camera showed that the driver of the vehicle was a white man wearing a Penn State Lacrosse jacket. The camera also showed a pedestrian who tried to stop the theft, police said.
