Letter to the Editor
Better coverage
This letter is in response to the article "Wounds still healing for former pornography star" that appeared in The Daily Collegian Friday. It's becoming more apparent that the editors of the Collegian are more interested in furthering their own agenda along with that of the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Student Alliance and other leftist groups instead of printing news of interest to the majority of students. The front page Friday typifies this perfectly. On March 24, Dr. Walter Williams, a highly regarded black conservative/libertarian, spoke to a crowd in Kern Building. His speech was given a standing ovation at its completion. The local news carried a segment on its nightly report, and the local newspaper carried two separate articles on this highly successful campus event. Not a single word appeared in this paper. A speech by a former porn star got front page coverage. Unfortunately, this is not an exception but the rule. From "Clit Notes" to pornography stars, the Collegian continues to serve only a portion of the student body. If the editorial staff or the readers think the whole of the campus population gets proper coverage, they are either sadly mistaken or incredibly naive. The purpose of the Collegian for many is to update last night's sports scores and little else.
