Clean up
Everyone has seen the signs -- the robins, flocks of geese headed north, warmer weather replacing snow and freezing temperatures -- spring is enveloping State College once again. Let's be merry for the coming months of birth and growth, and have a beer. And when we've downed the last gulp, let's throw our can into the bushes. Those campus squirrels can use them to collect nuts, right? While we're all walking aroung with our noses in the air let's take time to notice the ground and trash. Gee, I thought underneath all the snow was grass. As a soul who would like to live in a civilization without a garbage problem, I ask everyone to take a stand against offensive waste. From now on, let's make sure cans make it to the recycling tubs. Trash bins line College Avenue, waiting to recieve paper byproducts. Used tissues and cigarette butts have no home among our green friends' roots. Once we have accepted responsibility, we can help others help themselves. And you know, if the nearest trash bin is too far, pockets work great as temporary storage. Cleaning up after others can only make us more human. The horizen is full of outdoor festivals such as Earth Day and the 19th Annual Beta Sigma Beta Sy Barash Regatta. It will be easier to celebrate the outdoors knowing we've helped to keep it beautiful.
