Test yourself

Are you the voting type? Do you swim in stagnation?

Take this handy-dandy quiz to see if you are the type of person who would most likely vote in the Undergraduate Student Government elections today. Simply answer yes or no to the following questions. Give yourself 2 points for every yes and 1 point for every no. Add your scores up and match them to the key at the bottom of the quiz.

Do you feel handcuffed by student government's stagnation in the sea of status quo?

If you feel as though current student leaders are not addressing your concerns on issues important to you, answer yes. If you like swimming in the sea of still, answer no.

Do you want a safer campus?

If you dread walking alone at night because some local streets and pathways are too dark, then you might want answer yes. Also answer yes if you want student leaders who might be able to work on educational programs about campus safety. Answer no if you really like watching over your shoulder every time you venture out at night.

Do you like where your car is parked?

Many students hate walking the marathon mile to student parking. To top it off, many students don't like the fact that more than 1,000 new spaces have hit University Park in recent years -- none of them for students. Answer yes if those facts bother you. Answer no if you like walking really far to get your car, or if you like paying a lot for that space.

Do your eyes glaze over at the thought of Taco Bell in the HUB?

Some of the candidates this year think that's all they have to say to get your vote. Vote yes if you would like a candidate who would work to get a variety of fast-food stands in the HUB and some good old American corporatism to match the vinyl in the fishbowl. File a no if tacos aren't your forte.

Do you care if your $35 computer fee pays for a fancy mouse pad in some administrator's office?

If you are concerned about how your computer money is spent or if you like the current system of meager returns on your valuable money, vote yes. If you like not knowing how your money is spent, and if you like waiting in line for a printer that will probably break down, vote no.

Now that you've answered the questions, see how you stack up on this scale:

-- If you scored between 0 and 5 points, you did the quiz wrong. Vote anyway because you probably could use better guidance counseling and course selection -- something most tickets addressed.

-- If you scored between 5 and 10 points, you are most likely a person who will vote today.

-- If you scored more than 10 points, your math is awful. Vote anyway.

-- If you only read the things in italics, or if you only read this key, you are most likely a person who votes for either the candidate on the top or bottom of the ballot. When you vote today, read the whole ballot and then choose a ticket.
