Letter to the Editor
Issues debated
Apparently my letter to the editor regarding the debates missed the mark it intended to hit. I never meant to give the impression that the candidates did not talk about issues or that I thought one ticket deserved bashing over others. My "tongue and cheek" letter tried to let students know that the coverage of the debates by The Daily Collegian really did not cover much. The candidates really did talk about issues such as minorities at Penn State, student apathy, accountability to students and other important issues. The problem is that many people believe what they read. Consequently when they read an article that only talks about one particular aspect of campaigns and debates, such as the theatrics, that is what sticks in their minds. I apologize for giving the wrong impression to people. I encourage everyone to find one hour of their time either on Thursday or Sunday to attend these debates if they plan on voting for a president and vice president. Don't rely on everything you read. In reference to my letter, a very wise professor told our class that sarcasm and writing do not always mix. I guess she was right on target.
