Caller sights man being thrown into van: The State College Police Department reported that someone called to say that four or five men were sighted carrying another man over their heads while walking north on Garner Street.
Police said the caller saw the group of men throw the man into a van in the parking lot between Hiester and Garner streets, which then drove away.
No one has been reported missing, police said, adding that they believe the incident is part of fraternity pledging.

Assault: William Lavelle of 319 Watts reported he was assaulted Saturday night at 121 W. Fairmount Ave., State College police said.
Police said Lavelle was struck several times, thrown down and kicked. He suffered injuries to his back, neck, shoulder, knee and eye, police said.

Burglary: Deborah Price of 424 Waupelani Drive reported someone burglarized her house Monday morning, State College police said.
Police said there are no signs of forced entry. A television, videocassette recorder, compact disc player and two necklaces were stolen, police said.
The items are worth $943.

Fraud: An employee of Bi-Lo Markets, 1919 S. Atherton St., reported the store received seven checks written on closed accounts in January, State College police said.
The checks totaled $213.
