The State College Police Department is investigating an apparent suicide that occurred yesterday morning in The Nittany Quill, 111 S. Fraser St.

Police responded to a call yesterday morning and, upon arrival at The Nittany Quill, found Laura R. Whitaker, 23, of 115 W. Hamilton Ave., dead. Police are calling the death a suicide.

State College police and the Centre County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident. Police said no foul play is suspected.

Kerry Benninghoff, Centre County coroner, said an autopsy was performed yesterday afternoon, but he could not release any information about the details of the cause of death.

Police said Whitaker was an employee at The Nittany Quill.

The owners of The Nittany Quill could not be reached for comment.
