A Philipsburg man was arrested on several charges Friday in connection with his alleged involvement with a 13-year-old boy.
Philipsburg State Police said Kenneth Leon Teats, 37, of 106 Weller Circle in Philipsburg, was charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual abuse of children/child pornography. Misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure, indecent assault and corruption of minors were also filed, police said.
Philipsburg police Trooper John Bacher said Teats allegedly took 78 photographs of the boy, 24 of which were pornographic in nature. Teats also allegedly engaged in oral sex with the boy several times, Bacher said.
The alleged sexual acts and photographs took place at Teats's residence between December 1993 and March 1994, Bacher said.
Police said they were made aware of the alleged incidents after a Pittsburgh film developing company notified the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation of suspected corruption of minors and child pornography in the Philipsburg area.
The investigation is still in preliminary stages, Bacher said, adding that other areas may be probed.
Teats was arraigned before District Justice Michael Rudella Friday and placed in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the jail.
