Two people were arrested for drug charges following a car chase at about 5 p.m Friday, the State College Police Department said.
Mark D. Bunge, 26, a former resident of State College who allegedly fled from his work-release program in New York City, was seen entering a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Executive House apartments on Waupelani Drive, police said.
Bunge and his companion Julie Rainelli, 21, a former State College resident with no current address, fled in the car after being approached by an officer out of uniform, police said.
After a brief chase, they abandoned the car in the 100 block of Easterly Parkway and fled on foot, police said, adding that officers then caught and arrested them.
Bunge was charged as a fugitive from justice, for receiving stolen property and for recklessly endangering another person for his alleged reckless driving.
Bunge was also charged with drug violations and possession of prohibited offensive weapons for allegedly having 10 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and brass knuckles in the car, police said.
Rainelli was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were arraigned before District Justice Clifford Yorks. Rainelli was released after $2,500 bail was posted and Bunge was being held last night in Centre County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
