Men's NCAA Tournament
Look out, baby!!! Hoops roundtable makes NCAA predictions

Move over Digger. Get a TO, Dicky Vee. It's time for Collegian sports writers Scott Brown, Damian Dobrosielski, Kevin Gorman and Mike Weinreb to sort through this mess we call "March Madness" . . .

EAST

SCOTT: After watching Carolina beat Duke in Cameron, I said to myself, "If they win the ACC Tournament, they're my favorite." They have all the ingredients: talent, guys who have been there before and certainly the coach, Dean Smith.

MIKE: They have no chemistry, everybody's going to be gunning for them; I don't think they're going to do it.

KEVIN: I think the most intriguing game in the whole tournament is Nebraska-Penn. It's kind of a shame that these two teams are matched up in the first round because both these teams could do some damage.

MIKE: I think the winner of the Nebraska-Penn game could go to the final eight. I don't see UConn doing anything. I don't see Florida doing anything.

SOUTHEAST

MIKE: Everybody's comparing Purdue to Danny Manning and Kansas. Not at all. If it was a different region I could see Purdue making the Final Four, but this region is too strong.

KEVIN: I think the team you have to look at is Kentucky. If Rodney Dent didn't get hurt, Kentucky would go all the way, there's no doubt in my mind.

MIKE: The best matchup of the region is Duke-Kentucky. A little revenge match.

SCOTT: I think Duke will make it to the Sweet 16, but I'm not impressed with them at all. Grant Hill's a fantastic player, but he's too unselfish. If Duke's going to do anything, Hill has to take it upon himself to score 25-30 points a game.

MIDWEST

DAMIAN: Michigan all the way. Jalen Rose has picked up his game, and as long as Juwan Howard can control (Arkansas's) Corliss Williamson inside, there's no match for Michigan.

KEVIN: Michigan doesn't impress me at all. They're just not the same team they were last year. (Chris) Webber was the heart-and-soul of that team. There's no such thing as the "Fab Four."

MIKE: Here's a dream final match-up: UMass-Temple.

SCOTT: With a John Calipari-John Chaney pre-game boxing match.

WEST

KEVIN: I think everybody's looking at Louisville because Arizona's been known to choke and everybody thinks Missouri's a little overrated.

MIKE: Missouri has been known to choke, too. They lost to Northern Iowa (in 1990). Anybody who loses to Northern Iowa gets no respect in my book.

DAMIAN: My two big surprises are Cal and Minnesota. Minnesota has everybody back from last year's NIT Championship team. Randy Carter dominates the inside, they've got good outside shooting with Voshon Lenard and Arriel McDonald is one of the most underrated point guards in the Big Ten.

MIKE: Yeah, and Ernest Nzigamasabo in the middle.

THE WINNER IS . . .

MIKE: I've got Michigan versus Temple. And I've got Michigan finally, finally cutting down the nets.

KEVIN: I see Kentucky taking it over Missouri. Rick Pitino finally gets over the hump

SCOTT: Carolina beats Cal to repeat.

DAMIAN: I agree with Scott. I like Michigan all the way to the final game, but once again they go in the tank for the national championship game.

MIKE: Who calls timeout this year?
