Man killed on Route 322 identified by dental tests

Centre County Coroner Kerry Benninghoff determined the identity of a man killed in an accident Monday morning on state Route 322 east of Boalsburg.

Donald W. Stoner Jr., 45, of Carlisle, died of traumatic injuries, Benninghoff said. Forensic dental tests performed Tuesday night confirmed the man's identity, he added.

The collision occurred after Stoner's westbound car veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with another car driven by Robert W. Pierce of Saint Benedict, Rockview State Police said. Pierce was not injured.

Stoner's car burst into flames after the collision and was pushed about 700 feet, police said.

Stoner was a foreman for Novinger's Inc., a Harrisburg-based construction company, and had been involved with construction at the University for the past 18 months, Benninghoff said.
