Racism?

I recently saw a disturbing flyer on campus. The Penn State Young Americans for Freedom displayed their apathy and ignorance toward the situation of minority groups at Penn State by claiming "Affirmative Action is Racist."

PS-YAF fails to recognize the need for assistance by all minority groups especially at a predominantly white institution such as Penn State. The many racist attitudes prevalent within the Penn State community need to be fought by the implementation of programs and policies geared toward raising the status of minority students.

If we fail to assist groups that have been subject to racism and discrimination for hundreds of years then how can we ever expect an equality between the races?

PS-YAF members should look beyond Rush Limbaugh and find a leader that has felt the pain of being discriminated against before telling our community that we should feel insulted by affirmative action.
