Due to high demand from younger students and area residents, tickets for Tatoo's Feb. 28 concert featuring De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest are now being offered to music lovers 18-and-over rather than just those over 21. The addition of under-21 customers will preclude sales of all alcoholic beverages on the day of the show.
"There was an overwhelming demand from people that are under 21," said David Wells, director of operations for Dante's Restaurants Inc., the company that owns Tatoo, 420 E. College Ave. "An overwhelming request from people that are 19 and 20 years old asking, 'Can we come in and just watch?' "
Watching and listening is all Robert Decker (sophomore-human resources) wanted to do, and he is pleased to hear he now has that opportunity.
"I was kind of disappointed (the show was over 21), but there was nothing I could do about it," Decker said. "It's great -- I'd really like to see them."
Larry Moore, Tatoo's general manager, said he has not received any complaints from ticket holders upset by the fact that alcohol will not be served at the club next Monday.
Tickets cost $22 in advance or $25 at the door. Starting today, tickets will be available at McLanahan's Self Service Store, 414 E. College Ave. Tickets are still available at the Student Book Store, 330 E. College Ave.; Mike's Movies and Music, 1613 B N. Atherton St.; Disc Jockey Record Store in the Nittany Mall; and WBHV-FM (B-103), 421 E. Beaver Ave.
