Some dancers cried, while others embraced. But there was a smile on every dancer's face even if they couldn't keep their eyes open or stay balanced on their aching feet. The 1994 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon was finally over.

Lori Consalvi is interested in nursing. She thought volunteering at Centre Community Hospital would give her an idea of what it is like to be a nurse.

Raised in Compton, Calif., Linda Burton had to decide what legacies she would pass on to her children, whom she raised in predominantly white State College.

For spectators, the lights in the White Building had a strange processed brightness, compared to the relaxing spring sunshine outside.

The 540 dancers weren't alone on the floor this weekend during the 1994 Interfraternity/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. Families, friends and supporters rubbed shoulders, massaged feet, blew bubbles and gave thanks to the baby powder and sweat-covered dancers.

Kevin Polidora and Peter Frank sweated just as much as the other dancers during the 1994 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, but there was something separating them from most others on the floor.

If you read the backs of the dancers' T-shirts at the 1994 Interfraternity/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, you might have wondered what Joey and Mary Jo were doing there.

Jennifer Kelly sat on the steps of Old Main yesterday with her sweatshirt tied around her waist as she slowly savored each spoonful of her Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream, enjoying the spring-like afternoon.

Volunteers gathered to clean an abandoned milk company building over the weekend. They decorated the building with multicolored streamers and balloons -- sharp contrasts to the drab green peeling paint that covered the walls.

The new student association's constitution deadline is here, but some student organizations haven't decided whether they will join under the association's name or remain independent.

Away from all the music, away from the crowds and video games, in a room off to the side, Jeff Hall was getting his feet wrapped -- for the third time this weekend.

University President Joab Thomas asked the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments to voice concerns at its meeting Saturday, and found students addressing a common problem -- money.

Yesterday the wrestling team's emotions went through more ups and downs than a roller coaster.

Nineteen feet and nine inches of hardwood lay between Jackie Donovan and the basket. She launched a shot that seemed to hang in mid-air for several seconds before settling softly betweeen the rim and the nylon.

It all went according to plan. Well, almost according to plan. Michigan and Northwestern battled for the title, with Michigan winning its eighth-consecutive Big Ten Championship and Northwestern playing the role of the bridesmaid.

He wanted the ball in his hands. He always wants the ball in his hands.

The Lady Lion gymnastics team roasted the Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday night, capturing their second conference win of the season and in the process vaulting their season record to over .500.

With precious seconds to spare, he hurled his body to the ice. Hoping the puck would tear into his frame, Icer forward Don Lamison thurst himself into harms way, blocking a shot with seconds left to preserve the Icers win.

Last year Kent State beat the women's indoor track team by three points. This year the Lady Lions got their revenge, thrashing the Lady Flashes 100-47.

Saturday's men's indoor track and field meet became a heated contest between Penn State and Kent State, with both teams dominating and stealing events and the Lions finally prevailing. It was the event that didn't count, however, that people will remember.

In major league baseball, spring training is the one time of year when everyone is in first place, and everyone has an equal chance to acheive their preseason goals.

Chalk up one more tournament championship for the men's volleyball team.

It looked bleak once the initial set came to a close. Ivan Spinner just didn't have it this time. The senior was about to lose the 'A' flight championship match.

The NCAA found the University's housing policy for football players in Nittany Apartments to be in compliance with its regulations, without considering the quality of the apartments, a legislative services director said Friday.

Drums pulsated through chests as dancers marched in traditional dances, calling to order the 11th annual "Touch of Africa" festival Saturday night in the HUB Ballroom.

Out of the bands listed on the lineup for the 1994 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, the country sounds of Crossover may have seemed slightly out of place.

Undergraduate art students now have another gallery where they can hang their works.
