For life
Looking for a place to live next year? Quiet. Clean. Nice view. Affordable. Close to dining establishments and friends. Sound good? Smoke free. Alcohol free. Drug free. Sound even better? Come live with us. We are . . . LIFE House! Living In a Free Environment is a special living option within the University's residence halls. LIFE House is presently in its second year and was created to meet the needs of students and to respond to campus- and nation-wide trends showing an increase in substance abuse among traditional-age college students. Students who live in LIFE House have chosen not to use alcohol, tobacco and other controlled substances. The residents sign an agreement every year pledging to support the philosophy and policies of LIFE House and the University. The residents agree that they will not return to the house in any alcohol- or drug-induced state. Guests are expected to respect these policies, too. Residents of LIFE House have chosen to live in this environment for a variety of reasons. Many residents made this choice because they do not use alcohol, tobacco, and other controlled substances. Other made this choice because of personal, religious, or life values, while still others made this choice because they or someone they know have recovered from a substance addiction. Residents of LIFE House enjoy the advantages of on-campus living. It is located in Tener Hall -- a co-ed dorm. The dorm staff offers many educational programs for students to meet others with different life experiences. Resident Assistants also offer social events for students to interact in a more relaxed setting. If you are interested in living in LIFE House for the 1994-95 academic year, please return your housing preference card to the Assignment Office before March 4. If you do not have a housing preference card, pick one up in the Assignment Office in 101 Shields. All students should fill out the card to indicate "LIFE House" in the special options section and rank that as their first choice. For more information call 865-5375. Come live with us . . . we're high on life.
