Members of the Undergraduate Student Government Academic Assembly elected new officers last night for the 1994-95 school term.

Every time a can or jar of food is opened and safely enjoyed, some thanks should go to the University for teaching food industry supervisors that there is more to food processing than making the cans hard to open.

Mayor Bill Welch looks at the Hamilton watch his parents gave him some 35 years ago when he graduated from State College Area High School. Friday 4:44 p.m. --only two minutes left.

Despite some reservations, the Association of Residence Hall Students decided to support a proposal to merge several student organizations under one association to replace the existing Undergraduate Student Government.

SPORTS

For the majority of the members of the women's swimming and diving team, the Big Ten Championships begin on Thursday. But four members of the team had their own championships yesterday in McCoy Natatorium.

Imagine Lou Benfatti sticking around on the Beaver Stadium turf signing autographs for his young fans for more than an hour. Or John Amaechi making sure the Rec Hall fans all get the chance to shake his hand.

If Rene Portland were not the coach of Penn State's women's basketball team, she says she would be a basketball official.

With Janet Reno spearheading well-publicized attacks against TV violence, the fight to curb violence in video games has been seemingly lost in the media shuffle.

Since the telephone first hit the international market, the potential for crank calls has existed -- but nobody has utilized the forum quite to the extent of The Jerky Boys.

The strange and the unusual have always been a fascination to humankind. So it is little wonder that some publishing houses and book clubs have specialties that lie somewhat south of normalcy --publishers devoted to bringing the peculiarities of this world to the everyday reader.

The climactic end of the 1994 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon slowly approaches. The old familiar song comes on again as eyes glaze over, ears perk up and bodies begin to move mechanically in unison, repeating the movements ingrained in their minds.
