Members of the Undergraduate Student Government Academic Assembly elected new officers last night for the 1994-95 school term.
Jenna Dalious, faculty senator from the College of Agricultural Sciences, was elected president. Dalious said that as president, she would like to show that Academic Assembly benefits students.
"I want to get Academic Assembly more visible," she said.
Dalious said she wants to make students more aware that the assembly hears academic concerns and she hopes to work more with the course selector, a guide to general education classes. She would also like to invite more speakers to the assembly and improve relations with the administration.
Dalious will replace outgoing Assembly President Erich May.
David Goldberg, vice president of the Arts and Architecture Student Council to the assembly, was elected vice president. Goldberg said he would like to see the assembly move into the role of a service organization.
Goldberg will replace current Vice President Susan Mani.
Emily Bahn, vice president of the Business Student Council, was elected to the new position of selector director. Bahn said she wants to set up a staff to work on increasing faculty response to the course selector and to eventually include at least half of the general education classes.
May said he believes he accomplished what he had to do during his term as president.
"I think I did what I came to do," he said. "I'm really proud to have been with Academic Assembly."
May added that the new officers will assume their positions during next week's meeting.
