Police Log

  • Police cadet kicked in head: University Police Services is investigating an incident in which one of the department's cadets was kicked in the head this weekend.

    The cadet stopped two men early yesterday morning on the Mall near Willard Building for allegedly possessing alcoholic beverages, police said.

    When he attempted to identify one of the individuals, the cadet was kicked in the head, police said.

    Police said one suspect was immediately apprehended by other officers who responded to the scene. The second suspect was apprehended later, police said.

    The cadet was taken to Centre Community Hospital, where he was treated for a fracture to the cheek and eye area and released, police said.

    Police said charges against the two suspects are pending.

  • Men cited after fight in hotel: Rockview State Police cited two New Jersey men with various charges after a fight early Saturday morning in a hotel room at the Days Inn-Milesburg/State College, Route 150.

    Tony A. Amorino of Long Beach, N.J., and Robert M. Frederick of Ocean, N.J., allegedly broke a lamp and telephone while fighting, police said.

    Frederick was treated and released at Centre Community Hospital for scalp and hand injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.

    Police said Frederick was cited for public drunkenness and criminal mischief. Amorino was cited for harassment, police said.

    Both men were released after entering guilty pleas to the charges before District Justice Daniel Hoffman, police said.

    The lamp and telephone are worth $110.

  • Burglary: An employee of Stoney's Posthouse Tavern, 146 N. Atherton St., reported the business was burglarized early Friday morning, the State College Police Department said.

    A safe and cash were stolen from the business, which was entered through a window, police said.

  • Burglary: Joseph O'Connell of 122 E. College Ave. reported a person forced entry into his residence and punched him at 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, State College police said. The person came in through an unlocked door, police said.

    Police have a suspect and an investigation is continuing.

  • Fraud: An employee of Computerland of State College, 536 Westerly Parkway, reported someone charged a computer on another person's credit cards, State College police said.

    The cost of the computer is $1,820.

  • Theft: An employee at Champs Sports in the Nittany Mall reported a leather jacket was stolen between 1 and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, State College police said.

    The jacket is valued at $1,000.
