A 22-year-old Spring Mills man was ordered by District Justice Ronald Horner yesterday to stand trial on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and false imprisonment.
According to court files, Sean Dunlop allegedly beat his girlfriend at her Ferguson Township home after a brief argument. His girlfriend came home to find Dunlop sitting at her kitchen table. Dunlop followed her up to her bedroom where he allegedly broke her nose, choked her, punched her and pulled her hair.
She attempted to leave several times, but Dunlop allegedly refused to let her leave until she stopped bleeding, according to court files.
Dunlop's bail was set at $2,500 under the condition that he must stay away from the woman's residence and place of employment.
Dunlop requested a jury trial and plans to plead not guilty, according to court records.
Also at the preliminary hearings yesterday, a 28-year-old Philipsburg man was ordered by Horner to stand trial on charges he received stolen property.
Douglas T. Ferguson Jr. allegedly stole a large amount of ammunition, rockets, rifle clips and firefighting equipment from Paul Mollura's Philipsburg residence.
David Mollura, the owner of the stolen property, testified Ferguson was the only person who knew the exact location of the ammunition.
In a police interview, Charles Ferguson said Douglas Ferguson called him for a ride. When he arrived at his home, he saw two wooden boxes with various ammunition and rockets on the floor in the garage. Douglas Ferguson allegedly gave Charles Ferguson numerous shells and told Charles Ferguson not to tell anyone where he got the shells, according to court files.
Douglas Ferguson denied the theft and ownership of the ammunition, but he did admit to giving Charles Ferguson the shells, according to court records.
Douglas Ferguson was released in lieu of $1,000 bail.
Also at preliminary hearings yesterday, a 30-year-old inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Rockview was ordered to stand trial on three counts of simple assault and harassment.
Joseph Siko of Bellefonte allegedly squirted a substance believed to be urine out of a shampoo bottle on two officers who were passing out library books. While two officers and a lieutenant were putting a plastic shield in front of Siko's cell, Siko allegedly squirted the two officers in the eyes, according to court files.
Both officers had to have their eyes flushed because of burning and redness, according to court files.
In another case before Horner yesterday, a University student pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Brian J. Groh of 478 E. Beaver Ave refused to leave another apartment at the same address after the owner told him to do so several times. Groh refused to leave, even after a physical confrontation.
Groh was fined $75 and required to pay $74 in prosecution fees.
