Man assaulted on Calder Way: A State College man reported he was assaulted Friday by an unknown man while walking on Calder Way, the State College Police Department said.
Police said the man was walking on the 400 block of East Calder Way when a car almost hit him. He allegedly shouted at the car's occupants and one of them got out and allegedly struck him in the face.
The man was treated for bruises and swelling at University Health Services.

Fraud: An employee of McLanahan Self Service Store, 414 E. College Ave., reported the business received nine checks written on closed accounts, State College police said.
The checks totaled $183 and were received between Jan. 13 and 19.

Fraud: An employee of Weis Markets, 560 Westerly Parkway, reported the store received two checks totaling $152.31 that were written on an account with insufficient funds, State College police said.
Police have a suspect and an investigation is continuing.

Theft: Dale Paffie of 934 Grace St. reported jewelry was stolen from his residence between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, State College police said.
Police said the jewelry was stolen from a jewelry box while Paffie was out of town.
The jewelry is worth $2,450.

Theft: James Espy of 224 S. Burrowes St. reported his vehicle was broken into, and his stereo system was stolen between Jan. 23 and Friday in Parking Lot 44, University Police Services said.
The stereo, amplifier and some cassettes were taken, police said. The items are worth $365.

Theft: Steven Yenser of 518 E. Beaver Ave. reported his bicycle was stolen between Friday and Saturday while it was locked to his porch, State College police said.
The 10-speed Schwinn mountain bicycle is worth $300.

Theft: Michael Agabegi of 717 Calder Commons reported four hubcaps were stolen from his Buick Century Sunday evening in Parking Lot 83 North, University police said.
The hubcaps are worth $160.

Theft: John Darcy of 220 Packer reported a green wool jacket was stolen from an unsecured locker in the Intramural Building between 9 and 9:45 p.m. Sunday, University police said.
The jacket is worth $150.
