Lend or Leave
Graduating? Looking for a job? Got news for you -- the job market stinks. Welcome to the first generation of Americans who may inherit a lower standard of living than their parents. Are you a freshman? By the time you graduate, a quarter of this nation's budget -- more than $300 billion -- will be spent every year just to finance this little debt of ours. That's $300 billion that won't be spent on education, health care or jobs. The mostly white male leaders pursue their petty agendas, blissfully uninterested in what happens to those after them. We must demand our voice and our concerns are heard. To this end, Lead or Leave was formed. Starting from nothing two years ago, it has grown into a national organization with 30,000 members at over 100 schools. Lead or Leave has been on the cover of U.S. News and World Report, featured on "60 Minutes" and other national broadcasts, and its founders have been invited to the White House. We are in the process of establishing a Lead or Leave chapter at Penn State. Through education and lobbying, we will pursue issues important to our generation at the local, state and national level. If you are upset your future may be over before it starts, join us. Come to our meeting at 8:40 p.m. today in 317 HUB.
