A University student was arraigned yesterday morning before District Justice Clifford Yorks on 27 counts of pool selling and bookmaking, University Police Services said.
Christopher Meeker, 21, of 600 W. College Ave, was arrested yesterday after allegedly accepting bets on nine different occasions totaling $660 and being paid $410, University police said. Police said they exposed the operation on Sunday afternoon hours before the Super Bowl. The monetary exchanges between Meeker and officers allegedly occurred both on and off campus, University police said.
The arrest is a result of a four-month investigation between the University police, the State College Police Department and the Rockview State Police.
Meeker was released in lieu of $25,000 bail, University police said, and a preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. on Feb. 9.
The investigation is continuing, University police said.
