Overexposed

Why is it that every time some sexual deviant wanders into Penn State, The Daily Collegian thinks it is front page news? Is Penn State brimming with homosexuals and perverts? No, I believe that most people here are not concerned with performances about "Clit Notes" and "My Queer Body."

Some of us can be amused by the titles, but must then struggle to retain our breakfast as we read what perverted acts take place during the performances. During Tim Miller's "My Queer Body," this homosexual shed his clothes and proceeded to settle himself on people's laps in the audience. However, this was not controversial enough so he then talked explicitly about anal sex and other homosexual perversions.

The Collegian seems to give the impression that only homosexuals come to campus to give performances and lectures. But, this is obviously untrue. There are many worthy speakers and lecturers who attend campus, but rarely are they trumpeted with a front page article.

One more discrepancy before I go run for shelter. I have also noticed that every time a pro-abortionist states an opinion, no matter how ludicrous, it also makes the front page.

For example, last week the citizens of Pennsylvania won a victory in the passing of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act. But all we saw were front page articles from the pro-abortionists. Why not cover both sides of the story? I would like to know how the pro-life movement assessed this legislation.

And besides this legislation really cannot be declared a victory for either side, but as a victory for common sense, as this bill simply instates a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion and provides pamphlets to help educate a woman in this crucial choice.

In closing, I hope in the future the Collegian will start to share some front page space with stories about groups besides homosexuals and pro-abortionists.
