Students should be on the lookout for a man passing out campaign fliers in the HUB this afternoon -- he's running for governor.
Democrat Charles J. Volpe will be eating lunch in the HUB and talking with students between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. today, said Kevin Cocosimo, a representative from Volpe for Governor. Volpe announced his candidacy on Sept. 4.
Volpe is president of Excalibur Insurance Management Services and executive vice president of Volpe Insurance Co. of Scranton and Pittsburgh. He also works as an attorney for the Housing and Redevelopment Insurance Exchange, a group of more than 50 housing and redevelopment authorities with insurance problems.
Other possible Democratic candidates include 1992 Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Lynn Yeakel, Lt. Gov. Mark Singel, state Rep. Bob O'Donnell and Lyndon LaRouche's political associate Philip Valenti.
Some possible Republican candidates include U.S. Rep. Tom Ridge, state Sen. Earl Baker, state Sen. Mike Fisher, Philadelphia businessman Sam Katz and state Attorney General Ernie Preate.
