On our way into the Lady Lion basketball game Friday night, we were greeted by some women who handed us a flier that read, "Love a Lady Lion!!! The Lesbian Avengers do . . ."

After reading the note, we realized we had no idea who the Lesbian Avengers might be, and the women who greeted us certainly didn't look like intimidating avengers.

We went over to one of the women and asked her if this had anything to do with Rene Portland's alleged no-lesbians policy. She said it did, and that her group wants to bring attention to the University administration's complicity in her discrimination to lesbians.

We also asked her what the Lesbian Avengers are. She said the group is a direct-action group focused on issues related to lesbian survival and visibility.

We are writing this note to inform the Lesbian Avengers that they have our wholehearted support and to inform the University that the community will not tolerate violation of its own policies.
