The men's swimming and diving team stuck it to La Salle last night 139-79 in Philadelphia, but Coach Peter Brown wasn't the least bit surprised.
"It's one of those meets you know going into it you're gonna win, unless something crazy happens," he said.
Penn State placed first in nine events, including 1-and 3-meter diving. But Brown is strictly concerned with looking ahead.
"This will be a good tune-up for Virginia," he said. "The La Salle meet allowed us to take a break from practicing. It was something we definitely needed before Saturday."
Now the Lions must step up their races if they want to compete with the Cavaliers of Virginia, who will haul their strong swimming tradition up to McCoy Natatorium for a dual meet beginning at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
"Virginia has some real studs on their team -- guys who've scored at NCAA's," Brown said. "It will be a good, tough meet, but it's really hard to say how we'll match up event for event."
