I am writing in response to the accomplishments to which the Project for Alcoholic Consumption Education committee has enlightened us. As far as I can tell, it seems that the only tangible thing this committee has achieved is the ban on kegs in certain apartment buildings, and, oh boy, what an achievement this is. I just wish your "do-gooder" committee would realize you are not going to stop students -- and even underage ones as well (perish the thought) -- from participating in alcohol consumption.
Banning kegs, from what I have personally witnessed, has done the following: created the problem of people littering the halls and streets with cans and bottles, caused damage and injuries to people and cars in the street below from intoxicated individuals dropping cans and bottles, and done nothing to reduce the students' consumption of alcohol. Your committee does not understand that it does not matter whether it is a keg or a case, students will drink regardless.
Your committee may be able "to take pride" in the work you have done, but I do not imagine much of the student body living off campus would. All of the underage drinking citations you have helped underage students to receive I am sure have been very beneficial to the off-campus dwellers. Also, I wish you would also remember that local apartment owners and managers and the police have historically have not generally been concerned about the welfare of the students. Although this opinion may not be viewed as being "politically correct," it is, however, the truth. If your committee is truly interested in the welfare of the community, consider donating to local charities.
