PSU police apprehend prisoner

A man who was released from Centre County Prison yesterday morning to search for a job failed to return to the prison after the allotted 8 hours and was apprehended last night by University Police Services in Parking Lot 83N.

Bartholomy Henderson of State College was serving a 6-to-23 month sentence after being convicted Nov. 9 of theft by unlawful taking, a prison spokesman said, adding that Henderson was released from the prison on a work-search furlough program.

Henderson allegedly took a bus from the prison to the State College area to search for work, but did not return. University Police Services received a message about Henderson's escape at about 9 p.m. and captured him a short time later after he was seen allegedly trying to break into a car in Lot 83N.

Henderson was interviewed by University police, put in Bellefonte Police Department custody and transported back to the prison.
