In a quest to equalize teaching and research in the University's promotion and tenure process, the Executive Student Action Council held an open forum for students last night.

A 21-year-old State College man was injured yesterday morning after being hit by a car at the State College Area High School South Building, the State College Police Department said.

A push for diversity in the English department's curriculum and a professor's fondness for poetry have spurred the development of the University's first literature course focused solely on African-American poets.

As students are choosing their classes for the Spring Semester, State College clothing and shoe buyers are deciding which fashions to display in stores for the spring collection.

Three Centre County police departments have received Pennsylvania Department of Transportation grants to increase the enforcement of speeding, driving under the influence and seat-belt violations.

Whether the moose head is missing or the Greek letters on the side of the house are gone, fraternity thefts have always been prevalent, but now, with the State College Police Department's help, they might not be as common.

Illinois quarterback Johnny Johnson should probably consider himself lucky that he doesn't have to face his own defense in practice. Instead he faces the scout team defense, the one modeled after the current week's opponent.

It has disappeared so quickly, the time, the Saturday afternoons, wandering onto to the 100-yard pasture of Beaver Stadium, wading in the sea of atmosphere portrayed by 96,000 faithful waiting to be entertained.

Loud, fast-paced music vibrates while dancers whirl, swivel, spring and even gyrate. Blackness. A serene melody now fills the room as the performers gracefully glide across the stage in a string of intricate movements executed with exact precision.

For Christina Billotte, the reason all-female bands are the coolest is simple.

"I've only been in a band with a guy once, and all I know is he never came to practice," said the guitarist and vocalist for Washington, D.C.'s Slant 6.

Out in the steep Wasatch Mountains of northeastern Utah, Vincent Carducci, landscape painter, searched for a good spot to do his next painting. He strapped on some skis and zoomed around with a large canvas and some painting supplies on his back.

There is a prevailing loneliness and despair that peeks through nearly every film situated in the desolate Southwest.
