He is a living encyclopedia of Penn State football.

It wasn't easy choosing 10 games out of 999. Especially considering this is Penn State, a school with a long history of gridiron excellence. But after much deliberation we've picked, in order, what we feel are the 10 most memorable games in Lion history.

Penn State's move to the Big Ten and its subsequent developing rivalry with Michigan has exceeded the confines of the playing field. The Wolverines, boasting the top-rated freshman class in the country, invaded Penn State's turf when they signed four of Pennsylvania's top 10 players last year.

It would be awfully easy to say that Shelly Hammonds invalidates the negative stereotypes of college athletes.

There was that day almost 25 years ago, when Joe Paterno was greeted covertly at the Pittsburgh Greater Aiport and Hotel. No controversy, he insisted. No media. So instead of taking him to campus, they told him discreetly about the benefits, the fame, the tradition. Then they offered him the job.

Forget Webster's.

You want the real definition of irony? Try this: A guy nicknamed 'Stone Hands' making one of the most important catches in Penn State history.

Jeanette Boyd will be wearing it at today's game. No, not a Penn State or a Michigan sweatshirt.

Michigan's Gary Moeller is not in the most enviable position. But who would be? It's very likely that the man who replaces Joe Paterno as head coach will likely face the same scenario.

Not To Be -- USC. Minnesota Go-pher Cover. All Hawk and No Action. We're Ready, R.U.

Good athlete. Bad attitude. That was the scouting report. But Don Yannessa wanted to make his own evaluation. It was 1989 and he was settling into his new job as coach of the Baldwin High School football team, a red-faced program with a blue-chip prospect.

There was the pass which shouldn't have been thrown and the kick which should've went through the uprights and with that, the Miami Hurricanes' bus rolled out of Beaver Stadium with the Lion's hope and spirits tucked neatly in its luggage rack.
