Police Log

  • Area man charged with assault: William Mark Strong, 29, of Huntingdon, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest yesterday morning, the Huntingdon Police Department said. Police said they responded to a call that Strong was assaulting Lori Keller and her eight-month-old daughter. Strong was arraigned before District Justice James Kyper. Bail was set, at $30,000.

  • Disorderly Conduct: D. Brad Patt of 200 E. Beaver Ave. reported yesterday morning that he was struck in the right eye after confronting a man walking on his lawn, the State College Police Department said.

    Police said they have a suspect.

  • Fraud: Employees of three stores in the Nittany Mall, East College Avenue, reported yesterday that they received checks written on a closed account by the same individual, State College police said.

    Police said checks totaling about $1000 were written to Mountain Magic Inc., Holiday Hair Fashions and Victoria's Secret.

    Police have a suspect.

  • Rape: University Police Services said a parent reported her daughter had been raped in a dorm during the summer session by someone known to her.

    An investigation is continuing.

  • Theft: Robert Oberheim, manager of Ag Progress Days, reported the theft of a feed chopper from a display at Rock Springs sometime Thursday evening, University police said.

    The chopper is worth $2,800.

  • Trespass/Soliciting: Resident Assistant Tammy Cunningham reported two men were soliciting items on the third floor of Wolf Hall Monday afternoon, University police said.

    Officers found Christopher Baker of Furlong hiding in a women's restroom, police said. Baker was arrested, arraigned before District Justice Robert May and released on $500 bail, police said.
