I would like to lend my support to the women and their allies who are organizing to protest the Centre Daily Times' support of the hate speech promulgated by The Lionhearted. I have urged the CDT to reconsider its policy and instead to take a strong stand against racist and sexist propaganda. One can support free speech without supporting hatred.
I would also like to urge the University administration to take immediate action to implement the demands presented to them by the Concerned Faculty and Staff for the Protection and Promotion of Women at Penn State. As a first step, the University should withdraw permission for the distribution of The Lionhearted on campus. The support of free speech does not call for the aiding and abetting of hatred. Let them exercise their speech elsewhere.
