Freshman Kyle Dixon captured his third victory in two weeks as the Penn State Cycling Team competed with 14 other teams at Indiana University of Pennsylvania this past weekend. It was a light-hearted match filled with lots of passing, some defense and very little offense when the women's rugby team met the alumni team Saturday afternoon. For the 99th year, the Penn Relays came and went. And along with the relays came some great performances by the women's track team. Antonio Davis didn't just defy gravity at the Penn Relays -- he took himself a step further. He soared to new heights by winning the triple jump with a leap that automatically qualifies him for NCAAs. "Czar of the discus" is a fitting title for Brian Milne. The Penn State sophomore has dictated the script of each meet this season and at the Penn Relays on Friday, his five-meet winning streak continued. The men's tennis team split its weekend battles with two Big Ten powers. Women's Tennis Coach Sue Whiteside pointed to this weekend's trip to Michigan as a warm up before the Big Ten championships. Maybe the men's lacrosse team did learn something last week against Hobart. Same ol' situation. That's how it was this weekend for the Lady Lion softball team. Another four-game series with a tough Big Ten foe. More crummy weather. More good hitting negated by bad breaks and good defense. Most importantly, a continued lack of run production that meant once again being on the low end of the scoring. Things just aren't going well for the baseball team these days. After all, the Lions' prospects seemed hopeful coming into the weekend. They were about to face an equally struggling Northwestern team, and it wasn't inconceivable they could sneak away with at least a couple of wins. They're going back to Cali, to Cali, to Cali.
