Home sweet home has gotten a face lift. Residents and visitors in Simmons Hall may notice the new look the lobby and piano, TV and study lounges have acquired since a decorating project was completed. A new Jewish studies program is being developed at University Park to provide a variety of educational opportunities for students interested in Jewish history and culture. Schlow Memorial Library, located in the center of downtown, is the library of choice for some University students. Centre County officials agree local tax reform is necessary, but they are skeptical that any reform bills will pass the state Legislature. State College residents may act up. Since Scott Tucker, one of the founders of Philadelphia ACT-UP, spoke at the University during Penn State's Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Pride Week, a spark of interest has ignited among some State College students and residents. With the primary election less than a month away, campaigns in municipalities surrounding State College are heating up. If students "gotta regatta" this year, they won't have to travel as far to do it. The University campus is ballooning to the west and State College hopes to mirror its movement.
