I am a 1957 Penn State grad. As the captain of Penn State Debate in '56 and '57, may I enter into a debate with you?
Who do you call the women's teams the Lady Lions? My goodness, in these days can't we realize that "lions" is not gender specific? To refer to men's teams as Lions and women's teams as Lady Lions simply is sexist. If you think the reader will not know if it's a women's or men's team, say so in the article.
My wife, Anne Friedberg, was an editor of the Collegian in 1957 (one of the first female editors, I believe). She joins me in saying, come on Daily Collegian, get with it and show some leadership! All the teams are Lions, without necessity for gender distinction.
