University students are in the spotlight. When the topic of sports is discussed, several things come to mind. Hockey ability and achievement. Leadership. Sportsmanship. Enthusiasm. Academic and community service accomplishments. All of these words describe Icer Ross Cowan, the inaugural winner of the "Bob Johnson Award." The familiar cry of "Fore!" has not been heard on local golf courses for months, but don't fret golfers, the wait is almost over. Spring bloomed in State College yesterday but Bloomsburg wilted. The men's tennis team shut out Bloomsburg 7-0 at the Penn State Tennis Center to improve its record to 7-2. The women's lacrosse team gave Lafayette a kick in the grass yesterday. For most people, a trip from State College to Pittsburgh might take three hours. For Joel Johnston, it's been nearly five years and counting. Even if the Lady Lions' softball team had won the lottery yesterday, it probably wouldn't have done them much good. As the results from their last nine games have proven, the team can't seem to buy a win.
