Everything came together for Howie Rogers last weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Boxing Association Northeast Regional Tournament, held in Penn State's White Building. For the three members of the women's swim team who qualified for the NCAA swimming and diving championships, it was a history-making weekend. The men's gymnastics team received a big scare at the Big Ten Championships this weekend in Minnesota. The Nittany Lions almost came up dead last. "We sent a message to the rest of the league. We are the team to beat this year." The women's gymnastics team fell short of a Big Ten Championship this weekend, but Allison Barber fell short to no one. Although the men's track team hoped to finish better than sixth at the Big Ten Championships, it was an excellent season finale for Antonio Davis, Brian Kelley and Leif Steiner. Saturday was a great day for Penn State hockey. Despite a strong defensive effort and 23 saves from goaltender Jason Johnson, the men's lacrosse team fell victim to No. 8 Towson State, 10-7, in its third-straight loss to a top 10 opponent. While the rest of Penn State was wallowing in 28 inches of snow, the Penn State ski team was out West enjoying the sun. Positive thinking. For the women's tennis team, that is about all that is left following the 8-1 humbling by Wisconsin on Saturday at the Indoor Tennis Club. Anyone who doesn't believe women can play as physical a game as men should have attended Saturday's women's lacrosse game. AMES, Iowa -- As the 1993 NCAA wrestling championships were coming to a close, the Penn State wrestling team had to shed a tear. Don't blame Leni Wilson when catching a chill around her. For the third consecutive year, the women's basketball team hosted a second-round NCAA Tournament game.
