Refocused. After sleepwalking through the Lock Haven Invitational last weekend, the Penn State Boxing Club rebounded Saturday at the Virginia Military Institute Invitational. The Penn State synchronized swimming team won the Pennsylvania state championship last weekend. It was a near-perfect reenactment of the celebration following the 1992 Stanley Cup --champagne, cup-shaped trophy and all. Qualifying for NCAAs was the name of the game on Sunday when four members of the women's track team headed to George Mason to compete in only one event. The blue and white of the Penn State faithful sat amongst the sparse crowd of 2,000 fans in St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio, during Saturday's double dual gymnastics meet. It was the kind of match where every player that was not in a cast got playing time. At 10 p.m. on a Thursday, most Penn State students are either studying or getting an early start on weekend partying. The mere thought of sitting in assigned seats in Beaver Stadium may be enough to send many students into a rage.
