It has come to my attention the past few weeks that the Reader Opinion section of The Daily Collegian has become less of a letters-to-the-editor section and more of a "listen-to-my-obnoxious-opinion-about-my-sexuality-my-view-on-abortion-and-how-I-feel-about-the-fraternity-rape-crisis" section. Every morning when I wake up and pick up my copy of the Collegian, I really do not feel like reading dismal opinions and petty bickerings of every organization on campus.
I understand that they have every right to be heard and have every right to be printed in the newspaper, but do we need to hear their problems every single day?
The abortion issue comes to mind. I think every day for the last two weeks there has been at least one letter from either Penn State Pro-Choice or Penn State Students for Life. It seems ironic that they always write about how one or the other refuses to enter into a debate with the other.
They don't need to have a debate, all they need to do is read the Collegian every day, that's where all the debating is being done.
I don't mean to single out the people who write in every day to the Collegian about abortion, it's just that they seem the most obnoxious.
Everybody who writes in responding to responses to responses to an article should also take the hint. I respect your right to an opinion and I respect your right to express your opinion in The Daily Collegian, but I don't need to hear it every single day.
