Letter to the Editor
Incomplete picture

The purpose of this letter is to correct some of the inaccuracies in the front page article concerning the Escort Service in the Feb. 1 issue of The Lionhearted. First, for the benefit of all those who have been calling me -- I did not write the article. I contacted the Lionhearted because I personally felt that it was in the best interest of the Escort Service that support for the service across all political spectra be shown to the University. On contacting them, they agreed to do an article if I agreed to gather most of the information. The information I contributed included all but one of the interviews and the specific information given by Jennifer Alexander. Unfortunately, this gave the Lionhearted an incomplete picture and some assumptions were made, resulting in the following errors.

For one, the service hasn't been cut as the article claims: it is under consideration for cutting due to budget constraints. Secondly, the article states that female students are provided male escorts. This again is not entirely true, as female escorts also work at the service.

Finally, I want to say that I am not taking these corrections to The Daily Collegian out of any malice for the Lionhearted, but rather to correct the information as soon as humanly possible. While I rarely agree with any of the politics of the Lionhearted, I want to thank them for their cooperation and commend them for having the vision to help address an issue that transcends political boundaries.
