A 9-year debate about the University's tax status may soon be coming to a close.

Winning a national competition usually brings fame, fortune, notoriety and maybe a job. But for some University students, getting the job is harder than winning the award.

The Panhellenic Council elected new executive officers for the 1993-94 term last night, as each candidate outlined goals to try to increase member involvement.

George Bush, the president who many say neglected the U.S. economy in favor of an international agenda, left President Clinton a house-warming gift -- an economy on the rebound.

SPORTS

Penn State-affiliated rock climbers dominated the competition in an event held last Friday at Allentown.

As boys, they endure years and years of practice in the gym. As adolescents, they devote a few more years to training in specialized gymnastics clubs.

Penn State's senior All-Americans Troy Sunderland and Dave Hart were looking to add another honor to their careers.

The equation is obvious enough. If the men's basketball team hopes to win another Big Ten contest this year, it is going to need big performances from John Amaechi and DeRon Hayes at the same time.

After nearly a decade, the most anticipated sequel in years has arrived in theaters across the country!

This past weekend, The State Theatre was quieter than it had been lately. No toast was thrown, no water guns were sprayed and the usual assortment of crazy characters didn't parade through the aisles.

The Kronos Quartet moved art music into the 21st century in its Saturday night performance.

OK, so Memories of the Ford Administration, John Updike's latest novel, has almost nothing to do with the Ford Administration. And it's also true that the book is not one story, but two.

Penn State has an intimate memory of Sergei Rachmaninoff. Weeks before his death March 28, 1943, Rachmaninoff performed in Schwab Auditorium.
