A State College woman allegedly broke into her ex-boyfriend's residence yesterday morning with the alleged intention of killing his new girlfriend, State College Bureau of Police Services said. The Interfraternity Council believes bigger is better. IFC added two more committees and a new vice president in order to make meetings more organized. William A. Schreyer was unanimously elected president of the University Board of Trustees at Friday's meeting. A University student was found guilty on two counts of harassment Friday for an incident that occurred Sept. 23 when former President Bush spoke at the University. The University will soon make its budget easier to understand and provide more detailed breakdowns of its expenditures. One University student is considering an unusual career choice after he graduates --he might run for mayor of State College.
The men's gymnastics team is on a mission. And Saturday night, the Nittany Lions came one step closer to completing it when they defeated Temple, Kent State and Navy. With the Big Ten schedule dead ahead for the men's swimming and diving team, only an exceptional team performance would have sufficed this weekend. It's lonely at the top -- of the diving board. Just ask Penn State diver Ryan Smith, who has faced this season as the only diver for the men's swimming and diving team. It may be one of the great ironies of Penn State athletics. The men's track team ran away with a decisive victory against ACC rival Virginia and Big East rival Syracuse at the Blue-White Invitational Saturday. Can the Lady Lions be stopped? At the Lady Lion Open on Saturday, the women's track team easily swept the top three spots in the 3,000-meter race. Penn State runners also took spots five, six, seven and eight. Women's Gymnastics Coach Steve Shephard's experiment with increased difficulty met with mixed results this weekend. The men's volleyball team didn't only win the Mizuno-Nittany Lion Invitational this past weekend. The Lions controlled it. They are undefeated. They are the 1993 Nittany Lion Invitational Tournament champions. They are the Icers. Helen Holloway scored six of her career-high 23 points during a crucial 14-0 first-half run as the women's basketball team rolled to an 81-61 victory over Michigan yesterday at Rec Hall. Helen Holloway is proving that the student can learn from the teacher. It is the only university known to require its players to pay close to $400 each to attend a volleyball tournament at Penn State. The Nittany Lions went out to Lincoln, Neb. this weekend, and in dramatic fashion claimed the National Dual Meet Championship.
