The Interfraternity Council voted last night to readmit Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity as a full member of the council.

Six State College Borough Council members endorsed "tax-and-pave" economics last night but one dissenting member wants the others to read her lips.

Despite four character references on his behalf, William McVicker was ordered Collegian Staff Writerto pay more than $500 in fines for personal use of University funds. A former Penn State Bookstore administrator pleaded guilty and was sentenced yesterday to three years probation for taking more than $8,377 from the University.

When Susan Miller was a sophomore at Temple University, her cross country future was cut short because of an unplanned pregnancy.

The School of Communications plans not to renew six faculty positions as part of its proposal to the University Future Committee.

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and the Eberly College of Science propose to restructure some majors as part of their recommendations to the University Future Committee.

SPORTS

"Successful" is one word which could describe the fall half of the men's swimming and diving team's season. "Deceptive" is another.

Troy Drayton was a sophomore wideout when Penn State played Florida State in the inaugural Blockbuster Bowl two years ago.

It will not be the national championship game that Lion fans thought it might be before police blotters, injuries and Lady Luck got in the way of an undefeated season.

Maybe Pitt should take a five-year hiatus from the Nittany Lions in every sport.

Playing catch-up the entire game, the Nittany Lions caught their second loss of the season, as Miami of Ohio went on a late run to seal an 81-68 victory in front of 6,003 spectators last night in Millett Hall.

To the musicians of the band Simple Gifts, their music is a natural sound, nothing dazzling or spectacular. They don't see it as work or an effort, but as enjoyment and a constant in their lives.

The Distinguished Gentleman could have been, should have been, a sharp satire.

Chrysty Laske was in her element yesterday at the Playhouse Theatre. After singing lyrics like "far away you'll hear me singing softly to the dawn" for Paramount's Kings Dominion performance tryouts, it was obvious she had been through the routine before.

A dissertation on Shakespeare might have been as laughable 300 years ago as a dissertation on Madonna might be today.

Move over Dirty Dancing -- the Penn State Ballroom Dance Club is tearing up the floor. Although members don't bust a move with their hips intertwined and pelvises pressed together, their graceful steps to the tango still turn heads.

Forget everything you remember about 1992. Forget about all the crap you heard on Top-40 radio. Forget MTV. And forget techno, Billy Ray Cyrus and goatee beards.
