Man breaks into vending machine: Sammy Paik of 605 Beaver Hall was observed removing more than $470 in dollar bills and loose change from a vending machine in the east lobby of Willard Building at about 10:30 Sunday night, police said.
He was apprehended after a brief chase and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond, police said.
Renee Dixon of Baltimore was also arrested for acting as a lookout for Paik and charged with criminal conspiracy, police said.

Fraud: An employee of Hi Fi House, 366 E. College Ave., reported that someone wrote a bad check on Nov. 3 for stereo equipment, State College Bureau of Police Services said. The incident was not reported until yesterday.
The check was for about $700.

Theft: Katrina Stehman of 646 E. College Ave. reported that someone broke into her car while it was parked in Parking Lot 43 and damaged the dashboard and removed the stereo sometime between Nov. 22 and Saturday afternoon, University Police Services said.
The damage and stereo is worth $450.

Theft: Peter DiSanto of 712 Pinchot reported that someone took his bicycle from the west side of Fisher Hall sometime over the weekend, University police said.
The bicycle is worth $500.

Theft: Kevin Farrell of 1312 Curtin St. reported the theft of his gym bag and its contents from the men's locker room in Rec Hall sometime between Dec. 2 and yesterday morning, University police said.
The bag and its contents are worth $180.
