On Nov. 4, Amanda Martin published an excellent satire involving male/female role reversal to make the valid point that it sucks to be a woman. I agree with her (though I am not a woman) and was very entertained by her story.
In the spirit of the article I would like to bring up another interesting point which deals with the current direction of feminism.
Is Martin's story becoming a reality? If so, one might see that women are turning into men. Not physically, of course, but in their attitudes and lifestyles. This is argued a great deal by feminists, saying that women don't want to be like men, and they probably believe that. But then why are feminists fighting for things like equal pay (money) and representation in government (power)? These are the capitalistic aspects which have oppressed them for so long.
If women are truly the noble creatures I believe them to be, I would think they would be stressing the lack of importance of money and power, and instead concentrate on how to encourage people to be more individualistic, compassionate and happy.
I would like to close by saying that I support the feminist cause and offer some advice to feminists in the form of a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche: "When you go to fight the beast, be sure not to become the beast yourself."
